13 Basic Animal Terms (Chinese)

Today, I am following up on the previous list of 13 Basic Animal Terms in Korean and 13 Basic Animal Terms in Japanese with the same terms in Chinese. This includes the names for ten basic animals, along with ‘animal’, ‘wing’, and ‘tail’.

Some of the terms are either identical or quite similar to those in Japanese and Korean due to the latter language frequent borrowing of the older, traditional Chinese terms.

These are based on the list of the 625 most commonly used words along with the 1000 most common words (from which I picked up rabbit).
